NanoSIMS O isotopic analysis of a precursor silicate grains with metal core in sample OREX-800088-10

Author

Ian Franchi

Description

Small oliivne and other silicate and oxide phases exist within the matrix of Bennu samples. These phases are the remnants of the precursor components that formed the original Bennu parent asteroid. The oxygen isotopic composititon of these grains helps constrain the nature of what Bennu's parent formed from, and where in the protoplanetary disk this happened.
