Description
A whole Bennu particle (OREX-803187-0) was first imaged using micro–X-ray computed tomography (micro-XCT), and two dolomite grains containing candidate fluid inclusions were identified. Based on the XCT information, cross sections of the dolomite grains were prepared using focused ion beam (FIB) milling so as to preserve the candidate fluid inclusions just beneath the surface. Raman spectroscopic analyses were conducted on these samples, focusing on the dolomite surfaces and the subsurface regions, at HORIBA Techno Service. Although no fluid was detected within the dolomite grains, insoluble organic material (IOM) was identified as inclusions. Surrounding matrices were also measured. The Raman measurement conditions are provided in the Instrument Metadata. Analyses were performed on one dolomite grain on June 12, 2024, and on the second grain on June 18, 2024.
