LA-ICP-MS analysis of sulfide trace elements in section OREX-800088-10

LA-ICP-MS analysis was performed on three sulfides, sulfides 7, 8, and 14, as well as one magnetite-rich region, ROI 16, in section OREX-800088-10. This analysis used a series of line scans to map the regions of interest. These sulfides were of particular interest because they are located within a primitive clast in the section, distinguished by the abundance of anhydrous minerals and sulfur-rich matrix. The purpose of this analysis was to identify and quantify the trace elements in the sulfide grains/magnetite region and surrounding matrix, and investigate trends within and/or relationships between trace element abundances to understand element partitioning.
