Description
Sugars are extracted from powders of sample OREX-800107-108 with H2O and 2% HCl. 90% of the water elute of a cation exchange purification was derivatized and analyzed GC-MS. remaining cation fraction and 10% of the sample will be used for nucleobase analysis (OREX-800107-169 and OREX-800107-170). Remaining solid extraction residue will be used for elemental and isotope analyses (OREX-800107-177). The derivatized sample was dissolved in 100 uL and analyzed by GC-MS/MS. The data (SIM) shows that Bennu contains many sugars including ribose and glucose. This is a clear evidence of the presence of sugars in space and their delivery to Earth because this is the first finding of sugars in return sample.
